 IIM-A students gear up for placement day
Ahmedabad: Its climax for the batch of 2008-10 as 300 students step into the last lap of their course. As final placement season begins, the first set of students will sit through presentations and interviews on Saturday.
The companies visiting the campus are the ones short listed for the first cluster global banking, global consulting and private equity banks. The recruiters expected on campus in the next two days are the ace recruiters, who take highest number of students, offer the highest packages and are most popular among students. These include Bain & Co, McKinsey, Boston Consulting Group. Goldman Sachs, among others. It is not just the beginning of final placement season for the batch, but also the first year of Cohort style of placement, that the placement committee of the institute introduced this academic year.
Placement will happen only over weekends this year. Every student will have a specific cohort to choose from, which they have specified before. The companies will be grouped in different cohorts classified on the basis of profile and roles they offer, said Vivek Jain from the placement committee. A group of these cohorts will be invited on campus. Each cluster will have companies from different sectors. We have identified three clusters and are hoping to end the placement process for the whole batch in four to five clusters.
