IIM aspirants opt for other schools
Ahmedabad: Prashant Jain, a software professional , was keen to get into one of the IIMs, but the delay in CAT results have not left him with much choice, when he has a list of other institutes offering admissions. The decision is tough but I had to take it. I have decided not to wait for the CAT results and accept one of the other offers that I have received. Its true that studying in any of the IIMs would have been a dream come true, but waiting would be too much of a risk, said Jain.
Jain is not alone. there are many aspiring management students who are in a dilemma as the CAT results still not out. According to the official website of the test, the results of the test are expected in the third week of February. No definite date has been declared. But the results of the entrance tests of other management schools, some even ranked better than some of the IIMs, have been declared. Some institutes like Symbiosis Institute of Business Management , Pune, have also declared their final merit list, asking the student to pay their annual fees of close to Rs 3.5 lakh. Some others, XLRI, SP Jain Institute of Management are inviting students for interviews. Usually, the results of these institutes were declared after CAT. That used to give the students a lot of clarity and they could set their priority in terms of institute, city and even fees. But, this time, the students are really confused, said Biswaroop Padi of a CAT coaching centre. |
