City youth gets 100 percentile in CAT
Pune: City youth Rohan Joshi has achieved the near impossible by scoring 100 percentile in the Common Admission Test (CAT) held for admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs). The results were declared on Sunday.
Joshi was among the 2.4 lakh aspirants across the country and appeared in the CAT in December when the exam went online for the first time.
Joshi, an alumni of the Indian Institute of Technology, Mumbai, is among a handful of students in the country to score a full percentile.
Speaking to TOI on Monday, Joshi said, “I was never expecting a full percentile. I knew I would score very well
in data interpretation (DI) and quantitative ability (QI). However, I was not too sure about verbal ability (VA). Nevertheless, I prepared a lot for VA and eventually it paid off.”
After completing his B. tech from IIT, Mumbai, Joshi joined Morgan Stanley as an investment banker. He had an impressive ranking in the IIT entrance exam with an all-India standing of 97.
Among his CAT scores, Joshi scored 99.99% in QI, 99.63% in DI and 99.75% in VA to round off with a 100 percentile. The CAT went online this year and several problems ensued on day one of the examination. However, Joshi was among the lucky few who attempted the test without any hiccups. “I appeared for the test on December 7 and it went off very smooth. I had previously attempted GATE and GMAT entrances as well which are also online. Hence, I did not face any difficulty in CAT, although, there were problems faced by others.”
Joshi is simultaneously appearing for the Institute of Actuaries of India examination and desires to be a actuary. “My immediate objective is to get into IIM, Ahmedabad (IIMA). There are diverse job profiles that I can achieve through management degrees as well and especially at IIM-A. Eventually, I want to become an actuary.” He has received a call letter for interview at IIM-A to be held on March 30.
