Nirma techies shine in CAT 2009 results
Ahmedabad: Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) has declared its merit list following the declaration of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009 results. Three students of Nirma University have scored enviable percentiles.
The results have been out only for IIM-A, IIM-Calcutta and IIM-Shillong, the rest are awaited. Interviews are expected in the last week of March. Jalaj Desai, a student of electrical engineering from Nirma University, scored a 99.99 percentile, one of the top scores in the state as also in the country. Desai is from Valsad and
his parents are doctors. Desai said he had been working for more than a year to get through CAT.
Nirat Shah, a civil engineering student from Nirma, who belongs to Ahmedabad, has scored 99.83 percentile. I had prepared very hard for the test. My parents and family are very happy, but all I want to focus on right now is to get admission into IIM-A. On the online test, Shah said, It was not difficult for a regular computer user.
Jamnagar-based Mayank Gupta, a student of computer engineering, scored a 99.34 percentile. He said, I have many friends who are unhappy with their scores. While I was giving my paper, I focused on only getting my questions right and not about the complete score. I will be working on current affairs and other subject topics for the interviews.
In the last two years, more Gujarati students have been getting into IIMs. In CAT 2007, Surat boy Sankalp Mittal had scored a 100 percentile, whereas city doctors Rohan Desai (99.95) and Purav Gandhi (99.93) secured admissions in IIM-A and IIM-Kozikode. In CAT 2008,a pharmacy students Sidharth Somani, made it to IIM-A along with two others from the city.
