Test grading affected score: MBA aspirants
Mumbai: The Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) announced the results of its first computer-based entrance test NMAT, on Wednesday. Though the examination was conducted without a hitch, the results have not gone down well with a section of aspirants who claim that at the time of sitting for the test, they were informed by officials that sectional cut-offs would not affect their scores. The grading system, however, has proved otherwise, they allege. “I asked my instructor if it was alright to skip an entire section and pay attention to other sections. He replied it would not affect my scores. But now, while I have made the cut, I haven’t passed the sectional cut-off that I skipped. I haven’t got a call from the institute,’’ said one disappointed student, who appeared for the exam at NMIMS itself. “Many students have told me that officials had entered the examination hall and guaranteed that sectional cut-ffs would not be considered,’’ said a professor from a coaching class. “Students who had paid more attention to some sections over others in the paper have suffered. They missed the seats by a few marks because of this confusion,’’ he added.
After the goof-up in the CAT last November, the rescheduled examination dates clashed with NMAT papers, and many opted to sit for the latter instead. |
