CAT aspirant may lose a yr

Mumbai: Glitches associated with the Common Admission Test (CAT) just don’t seem to end. A Mumbai-based candidate has now complained that he did not get a score from the Indian Institutes of Management despite taking the test in December.

Chintan Gala opened his score on the website two weeks ago to shockingly find ‘No result’ against his name. The Vile Parle resident had been given an option to take the re-test, which was scheduled on January 30 and 31, but had not taken it because he was satisfied with his performance in the first attempt.

Then the IIMs shortlisted about 11,000 people who were asked to mandatorily take the re-test. Chintan too received a mail from authorities. However, he was given a choice, which he chose not to exercise.

E-mail correspondence (with the TOI) by the Candidate Care of Prometric, the agency conducting the exam, clearly said he could choose not to take the re-test, and that his earlier score would be considered. But now the same centre is now advising him that he should have taken it. Soumitra Roy, managing director of Prometric, said this was unlikely. “There were certain technical glitches with the IIM website which is maybe why the student could not access his result. If not, the Candidate Care will definitely investigate and get back to him. We have tried to be very transparent and the even the evaluation process has been put up on the website.”

“I have written to all the IIM directors. I have also contacted my lawyer, if they do not respond in a week I will have to send them a legal notice,” said Gala.
