NMAT format all set to change for next batch

Mumbai: After successfully conducting NMAT exams in the Computer-Based Test (CBT) format for the 2010 batch,Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS ) is all set to redefine the exams for the next batch.

The examination will be held over a period of three months.Students can now have up to three attempts at the NMAT examination and the best of three marks will be considered, said Anupam Rastogi, dean of NMIMS.

Applicants will now have the option to choose the date and venue of the examinations, which will be held between October 1 and December 31 this year. The process enables the candidates themselves to schedule the date and time of the test in realtime mode based on seat availability at each centre. The seats, however, will be offered on a first-come-first served basis, said Rastogi. There will be no negative marking of answers this year.

The changes have been introduced to bring the NMAT examinations on a par with global ones.Last time,we had received complaints from various centres about students not making it to the exam centre on time.Hopefully, with this system, students will be more at ease, said Khozem Merchant, president of Pearson India, the company managing this examination.

A candidate who wishes to apply for a reexamination will have to register once again and can take the examination after a gap of at least 15 days from the previous attempt. As we are also planning to bring out the results within five-six weeks,a candidate has the option of checking his/her results. They can reappear for the test, added Rastogi.

The redefined system will ensure that the paper is generated randomly for each student. The system will make sure that no student appears for the same paper or questions again.
