IIM-A to review cohort process
Mumbai Recruiter Conclave To Discuss New Placement System
Ahmedabad: In a bid to fine-tune its newly introduced cohort-based system of placement, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A ) will not only seek feedback and inputs from regular recruiters but also invite top business schools to debate on the issue.
IIM-A is hosting a recruiter conclave on Friday in Mumbai, where it has invited its regular recruiters along with placement chairpersons of several business schools in the country to participate.
Chairman of placements at IIM-A, Saral Mukherjee, told TOI, We will be able to know the kinds of changes adopted in placements by these institutes and ways in which they are addressing problems related to placement. So far, the cohort-based system which replaces the day-based system has been implemented only by IIM-A. Talking about the new system, Mukherjee said, No process is perfect and we are in the process of finetuning the system. The best way is by listening to students and recruiters involved.
While the cohort-based placement will be implemented in summer placements of IIM-A in November, the conclave at Mumbai will help highlight the pros and cons of the new system. IIM-A will present feedback gathered from recruiters and students during the cohort-based final placement process held in February 2010.
Last year, IIM-A saw Deloitte Consulting, A&M, Yes Bank, TSMG, Cognizant, Aditya Birla Group, Amazon and Philips as some of the major recruiters. About 420 students will take part in summer placements.
