IIFT
Overview:
The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set
up in 1963, to help professionalize the country's foreign
trade management. IIFT is an internationally acknowledged
and networked institution in delivering globally competitive
business education and research for individuals, corporate,
government and society.
Developments in the international marketing on one hand
and the consequential impact of the same on India’s
domestic market on the other, call for a professional
approach and sensitivity to international business environment.
The MBA (International Business) is a foundational course
for developing a competent cadre of business executives
to meet the country’s growing requirements for
training personnel in the field of international business
management.
The MBA (IB) is a six trimester general management programme
with a focus on international business. The Programme
aims at providing a comprehensive coverage incorporating
all the important areas and disciplines relevant to
international business activities.
IIFT 2008:
This year’s statistics show that a total of 42,000
students have applied for this exam conducted by the
Delhi based Indian Institute of Foreign Trade. A total
of 180 seats have been set aside for this MBA program.
This year’s IIFT raised hopes of all students
as the paper was similar to that of last year’s
paper. The IIFT paper is an industry specific paper
as it is exclusive to foreign trade. The paper shows
a leaning towards English usage, and Grammar.
Eligibility:

age limit
Recognised
Bachelor's Degree of minimum 3 years duration in any
discipline
Candidates
appearing for a qualifying examination can also apply
subject to submission of proof of requisite
qualification by pre-specified date
Selection Procedure:
For
General / SC / ST / PH Candidates
On the basis of Written Test, Group Discussion, Interview
Based on marks obtained in the Written Test, candidates
are called for second phase of selection process comprising
of Group Discussion and Interview and Essay Writing
to be held at Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad,
Kolkata, Lucknow and Mumbai.

Foreign / NRI candidates/ Children of NRI
On the basis of General Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
For MBA 2008-10, GMAT result should not have been declared
before 1 January, 2006 and should be received
by the Institute latest by end-March 2008.
IIFT conducts its own entrance test, conducted in the
fourth week of November and the interviews in the month
of February / March.

Pattern of Admission Test:
The admission test is a multiple choice objective type
written test (in English). Duration of the test is two
hours. It normally consists of 150 questions covering

Quantitative Analysis
Incorrect
Answer: - 1/3 mark.

Placements (2009):
2008-09 was tough year globally, yet IIFT managed to
rise to the challenge, ensuring 100% placements for
its students and in the process adding 20% more recruiters
to its previous year’s numbers. Some of the new
recruiters on campus were Mahindra & Mahindra, Unicon,
Bajaj Auto, Usha International, A.P.Moller Maersk, Infosys
BPO, Godfrey Philips, GVK Bio, Gateway Rail Freight,
Darashaw, Fino, LMJ International,
Virgin Mobile, Eli Lilly, Triton Group, Eka Software,
Copal Partners etc.
