Introduction
The Nobel laureate Amartya Sen gave a concept “Freedom
as Development” in Welfare Economics. Suppose we
extend this concept in spirit to an educational environment
the natural question is when does the freedom for learning
become a driver for development? |
PIMAR sets out that it should enable the students by providing
them with freedoms for learning to become productive graduates
by managing knowledge to attain freedom for themselves by becoming
economically stable, and consequently the nation as a whole.
Development is not material richness whose value is relative,
subjective and time dependent. On the other hand development
is a consequence of leaning, In fact development is a platform
for learning and learning is development of which one of the
outcomes is a material comfort and richness; money is not a
good but an instrument to attach an explicit temporary value
for a good or knowledge.
A child learns the most in less time till it starts going to
school. There is a saying, “many a time school interferes
in real learning”. A child’s style of learning before
it starts going to school is experiential learning guided by
the parents and the environment; it (child) goes on improving
upon its mental images of the knowledge while acquiring required
skills by the repeated application of the knowledge. The child
enjoys the fear-free guided learning freedoms in its childhood
and therefore, it develops so fast. This is the motivation for
us to design an experiential constructivist student centric
guided learning management system at PIMAR that enhances learning
and the ability to learn as well.
At PIMAR a student learns Management Science from reconstructing
on his or her prior-knowledge and recognizes that the world
around is a warehouse of knowledge in Management Science. He
or she learns to translate knowledge into new contexts and predict
consequences. We believe in spiral development of learning following
the Kolb’s learning cycle “ Experience, Reflect,
Conceptualize, and Plan to Act” or Deming Cycle, “Plan
– Do – Check – Act” in the sense that
stay firm on the current learning platform and knowledge with
enough cushioning and flexibility to move forward for a long-lasting
sustainable development. This method is working well that is
evidenced by the visible transformation in the students and
the placement offers our students are getting
PIMAR treats managing learning Management Science as an eternal
learning journey in the institutional development.
