Introduction

The Goa Institute of Management (GIM) is committed to this endeavour. Over the years GIM has earned the enviable reputation of being one of the finest Management Schools in the country. Most B-School surveys have given the Institute top marks in terms of Placement record, Quality of Education, Enabling Infrastructure, Efforts at Globalisation etc.

Through the AICTE (All India Council of Technical Education) the Indian Government has granted accreditation to GIM and the programmes that it conducts. This ensures that the quality of education is not compromised in any way.

 PGDM (Full Time)

 No of Seats: 240

 Eligibility

Minimum 50% aggregate marks in a three-year Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE. Candidates who will complete all requirements for the degree by 11th June 2011 may also apply. If an applicant does not complete all the requirements of his degree by 11th June 2011, or does not obtain 50% aggregate marks in his degree, the offer of admission made to him will stand cancelled. The qualifying cutoff for each year is determined on the basis of the scores of the applicants to the Institute, in the entrance test in that year.

For admission to the post graduate programme in business management 2011-2013, only those candidates who register for the XLRI Admissions Test (XAT) 2011 of Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur (XLRI) OR the ATMA test (AIMS) which will be held on 19th December 2010 OR both may apply for admission to GIM.

 Admission Process

- Candidates seeking admission to GIM are required to observe the following procedure:

- Applicants to GIM are required to take the XLRI Admissions Test (XAT), which will be held on 2th January   2011. OR the ATMA test (AIMS) which will be held on 19th December 2010.

- Apply online - Last date for online application is 31st December 2010.

- Candidates who have applied for admission to GIM will be shortlisted on the basis of their XAT/ATMA    scores, past academic performance and work experience. The shortlisted candidates will be called for face    to face evaluation process for final selection in February/March 2011. (Interview centres – Bangalore,    Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai and Panaji)

- The final selection will be made tentatively in April 2011 on the basis of XAT/ATMA scores (50%    weightage), the candidate’s past academic performance (10% weightage), performance in face to face    evaluation process (30 % weightage) and work experience (10% weightage), if any.

- The academic session would begin in last week of June/first week of July 2011.

- For further evaluation, the qualifying cut-off XAT score will be lowered by 15 points for candidates of Goan   domicile/origin. Documentary evidence of domicile will have to be supplied along with the completed   Application Form.

PGDM (Part Time)

Duration

Class interaction will be for two years only while the independent project work will spread to the third year.

Classes generally on weekends (Saturdays: 2:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sundays: 8:30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m.), but may sometimes stretch to Sunday afternoon, especially during the second year, to accommodate more electives.

Eligibility

Minimum 50% marks in a three-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline, recognised by the UGC/AICTE/AIU as eligible for Post Graduate Studies in Management; and

Full time work experience of at least three years in an executive/ supervisory position

Selection Process

Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will have to answer an entrance test. Based on their performance in the entrance test, they would be invited to attend, at their own cost the interview process which will be held at the Institute. The selection will be based on the candidate’s performance at the interview, academic achievements, and the nature of his or her work experience.

Admission Procedure

Candidates who are selected for admission will be informed by email. They should indicate their acceptance of the admission offer by paying the first term fees on or before the stipulated date.

The Institute organizes short-duration ‘residential’ Management Development Programmes.

Placement Process:

Pre-Placement Talks

This is an opportunity for the companies to increase their visibility on campus. This also provides the corporate with a great opportunity to interact with the batch, and tell them about the offered job profiles and the career growth path in their organizations.

The Firms are provided with state-of-the art audio-visual equipment. In case a company requires a Video conference facility, it is also made available to them.

It is mandatory for companies to schedule their pre-placement talks, between 3rd October 2008 and 29th November 2008. Any organization wishing to brief their prospective employees through pre-placement talks, may contact the Placement Cell.
