Introduction

IMDR was established in 1974 as a constituent unit of the Deccan Education Society. It took over the MBA programme of the MBA Centre of the University of Pune and the DBM programme, run in the BMCC (a sister institution) since 1968. Affiliated to the University of Pune, the IMDR was also a recognised centre for research leading to Ph D. In 1977, the IMDR became an autonomous institution by voluntarily delinking from the University of Pune. Since then it has carried on its activities, independent of the University or other statutory bodies.

IMDR is committed to provide quality management education to students and is guided by the values and principles of the DES. This is reflected in the fact that at IMDR there are no management quotas, no donations and no reservations. Merit remains the sole criteria for education in IMDR.

IMDR also provides opportunities to students to get international exposure through its tie-up with ESSCA one of the top management institutes of France - to attend either a semester or summer programme in ESSCA's campuses in France and Budapest ( Hungary ).

Eligibility

Graduates from any discipline with or without work experience are eligible to apply for admission to this programme, provided they have obtained not less than 50% marks at graduation. Final year graduate students are also eligible, provided they have scored not less than 50% marks at the immediately preceding examination.

Admission Procedure

- Before proceeding with the online application please issue a DD of Rs. 1000/- in favour of Director IMDR.
   MO/PO are NOT ACCEPTABLE. You are expected to fill up the DD Details at the end of the form, without
   which the form will not be accepted. If the DD details entered at the time of the online application do not
   match the details of the DD received the application will be treated as invalid. Please fill in the DD details
   accurately.

- After submission of this online application form, an intimation by post along with DD of Rs. 1000/- in favour
   of Director IMDR is absolutely essential. MO/PO are NOT ACCEPTABLE. Please note down and write the
   token number that is displayed on successful submission of this online application form on the reverse side
   of the DD. The last date for submission of completed application forms is 9th December 2009.

- If you are yet to complete your Bachelor's degree examination or any other qualifying examination,
   enclose certificate from the Head of your Institute / Department stating that you would be completing
   examination and all other requirements for obtaining the Degree / Diploma by July 2010, along with your
   DD.

- Attestation of Marksheets may be done by the Principal / Registrar / Head of your Department / College /
   University / Institute / an MP / MLA or Gazetted Officer.

- The decision of the Director in all matters relating to admission will be final and binding.

- Admission to the Programme on the basis of incomplete and / or false information will stand automatically
   cancelled.

Selection Procedure

- Stage 1 - CAT Score

Stage 1 is the written test. All candidates to the PGDM of IMDR are required to take the CAT-Common Admission Test of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIM). They apply to IMDR quoting their CAT Registration Number. On the basis of their performance in the Test, about 300 candidates are shortlisted for the next step. This is usually announced in FEBRUARY every year.

- Stage 2 - Personal Interview & Group Work

In Stage 2, there are two parallel processes of Group Work and Personal Interview. Both are intended to assess the candidates’ competencies. Preparation is neither necessary nor desirable for this stage. The final selection is made on the basis of overall assessment of the candidate. The selection is announced in the middle of JUNE every year.
