MDI - Management Development Institute

Introduction

Management Development Institute was established in 1973 by IFCI and funded by German Development Bank KFW, along with agencies like UNDP and European commission with the objective of imparting management expertise to practicing managers.

Over the last 30 years, association with organizations like UNDP, J.L.Kellog Graduate School of Management, UNIDO, World Bank, ILO and the German Foundation has facilitated MDI’s mission of endless contributions to the corporate world. MDI has collaborations with Queensland University of Technology, Australia for exchange of faculty and students, with L’Oreal, Paris, for student internships and faculty visits and with International Advertising Association, New York, for student internships. The Institute has similar alliances with McGill University, Canada and International Relations of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, France.

Post Graduate programme in International Management

- Minimum of 3-year Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of
   Indian Universities / AICTE. Candidates completing all requirements, for obtaining the Bachelor’s degree
   by 30th June 2010 can also apply subject to furnishing evidence to that effect latest by 1st October 2010.

- MDI uses CAT for short listing candidates for all the above programmes.

- Candidate has to appear for the Common Admission Test (CAT) to be conducted by the IIMs from 28
   November to 7th December 2009. The last date for obtaining CAT Voucher is 1st October, 2009.

- Foreign/NRI/PIO applicants can apply by submitting valid GMAT scores (taken not later than October 2009).
   NRI applicants residing in India during July-December 2009 will have to appear in CAT. GOI Rules will be
   followed related to admission of these categories of candidates.

- Final selection process will consider performance in the CAT / GMAT and subsequent Group Discussion and
   Personal Interview.

- Candidate must apply separately for NMP (EPGPM).

- IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in theconduct of the programme.

- Applicants wanting to obtain Application Form by post will have to send a Demand Draft of Rs. 1,750/- in
   favour of “Management Development Institute” payable at Gurgaon / New Delhi. Foreign/ NRI/PIO
   applicant can obtain the Information Brochure and Application Form by sending a Demand Draft of either
   US $100/- or Rs. 4,550/- or on cash payment of Rs. 4,500/- at MDI counters.

- Applicants who want to apply online (www.mdi.ac.in) should send the Demand Draft of Rs. 1750/- in favour
   of “Management Development Institute” payable at Gurgaon / New Delhi after submitting the application
   online.

- Applicant should also send 2 stickers with his/her address and telephone numbers written thereon along
   with the Demand Draft.

 Fellow Programme in Management & Executive Fellow Program in Management

Eligibility

- MDI is looking for candidates with a consistently good academic record, professional accomplishments and
   a strong urge to contribute to the movement of knowledge creation and dissemination in the field of
   management. A Candidate should have a Master's degree (or equivalent, recognized by the Association of
   Indian Universities) in any discipline, with a minimum of 60% marks in the aggregate.

- In addition to the academic qualifications, candidates applying to the EFPM programme need to have a
   minimum of 10 years of managerial / executive work experience. Also the minimum age limit for EFPM
   programme is 35 years as on 1st January 2010. Aspiring candidates are required to outline the nature of
   their experience and the management competencies acquired.

Application Form / Fee

- The Information Brochure and Application Form shall be available on payment of Rs. 750/- in cash at
   Admission Office, MDI Campus or by sending a demand draft of Rs. 850/- in favor of the Management
   Development Institute, payable at New Delhi, if by post, from 23rd November 2009. Applicants can also
   apply online and send the DD of Rs. 850/- by post. The last date of receipt of filled in Application Form at
   MDI is 29th January 2010.

Selection Procedure

- Candidates who have appeared/are appearing for the CAT / GMAT / GRE / GATE / UGC-JRF (two years
   from the date of the standard test and should be valid on the deadline of submission of the application
   form) will be shortlisted on the basis of the details in the application form and the scores of
   aforementioned tests. Only the shortlisted candidates will then be called for interaction with Area faculty
   followed by Personal interviews on 20th – 30th March 2010 at MDI Campus.

School of Energy Managements

About the Program

- The process of reforming the Energy and Power sector in India has reached a crucial level and experts are
   expecting acceleration in the process of reforms in the future. It is therefore necessary to build a cadre of
   young managers who would take the reforms to newer heights. In order to create this pool of talent,
   Ministry of Power, in collaboration with USAID under the DRUM Project had developed a PGDM: Energy
   Management Programme in the power sector. The purpose of the programme is to select, train and
   develop the best talent available in our Power sector so that we can meet the challenge of developing and
   managing our power system in a manner that is second to none in the world.

Eligibility

- A minimum of 3 years Bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of
   Indian Universities /AICTE as eligible for Post-Graduate Studies in Management.

- Minimum 5 years of post qualification executive work experience in the Power sector in
   central/state/private/other industries.

- For self sponsored candidates age is not more than 32 years as on 30th June 2010.

- For sponsored candidates age is not more than 45 years as on 30th June 2010.

Admission Procedure

  Sponsored Candidates

- Sponsored candidates have to forward their applications through the respective Organisations.

- All sponsored candidates must submit a letter of sponsorship from the employer/sponsor confirming that
   the organization will sponsor the candidate and pay his/her course fee and other expenses by the due
   date. This letter must be submitted with application form.

  Admission Test for Self Sponsored & Sponsored candidates

All sponsored/ self sponsored candidates have to appear in the MDl Admission Test (MDl AT) to be held on 14th February, 2010 (Sunday). Tentative test centres are Gurgaon, Kolkata, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Interview will be held at the respective test centres on same day.

MDl Application Form:

MDl application form along with prospectus would be available for sale on payment of Rs. 1,600/- in favour of 'Management Development Institute' payable at New Delhi or through post by sending a demand draft for Rs. 1750/- in favour of Management Development Institute’, payable at New Delhi.

Placements in 2008 especially have been astounding and unprecedented with the highest domestic salary jumping to INR 20.2 lakhs and the highest international salary rising to 87,729 Swiss Francs.
